What Every Makeup Kit Should Have

Whether you're a makeup novice or a seasoned pro, having the right tools and products on hand is essential to achieving your desired look. While buying every product out there can be tempting, certain items should always be included in your makeup kit.

Here's a closer look at the basics.

Foundation

Foundation is one of the most important products you can have in your makeup kit. It serves as a base for other makeup while also helping even out skin tone and providing coverage. It's perfect for covering up blemishes and dark circles.

When choosing a foundation, make sure it matches your skin tone and provides the level of coverage you want (full coverage, lightweight, etc.). You don't want to overdo it, or your makeup will look cakey.

And don't forget to use a primer first! A primer helps create an even surface for foundation application and makes sure it lasts longer on your skin. This way, you won't have to worry about having to reapply it throughout the day.

Concealer

Although concealer isn't necessary for everyone, it comes in handy when trying to hide blemishes or dark circles under the eyes. It's thicker than foundation and provides more coverage, so it's perfect for areas that need a little extra help.

Concealers come in various shades, so you need to find one that perfectly matches your skin tone. Take time to do a test run before you make your purchase to make sure you get the right shade. When applying concealer, be sure to use only a small amount and blend it into your skin using clean fingers or a damp sponge. This way, it will look more natural, which is what you want for a flawless finish.

Blush

Blush adds color back to your face after all other makeup has been applied (foundation and concealer). It's essential for creating a radiant and healthy-looking complexion. Choose a shade that complements your natural complexion.

If you have fair skin, then opt for soft pinks or peaches. Medium-toned complexions go well with warm apricots. Deeper complexions look best with mauves or plums, but if you have a slightly olive complexion, pick blush with golden undertones.

Swirl your brush lightly over the blush pan before applying it to the apples of your cheeks. This trick will give you just enough pigment without being too heavy-handed.

A good makeup kit doesn't have to include every product out there — just the essentials. With these essentials on hand, anyone can achieve their desired look with ease!
